How can I migrate my existing info on old laptop to new PC?

I have had a laptop for 18 months (vista) - I have now got a desktop (windows 7) - is there any way I can move the downloads, data, pictures, films etc from laptop to new PC? Pretty PC illiterate so any help welcomed
