Why did men impose restrictions on women in ancient Athenian society?
Aside from their ideas of them having greater intellect, ancient Athenian men believed that to be worthy, you needed physical capability. This meant that men naturally had the upper hand, because being male, they naturally had higher stamina levels, and this was the cause of ism in Ancient Greece. Of course, it started long before Athens, it started when the first humans, the first hunters-gatherers figured out that one part of their species was better at hunting than the other. The Athenians were just carrying on with that "legacy"
